A Birth Announcement
Welcome to the ENVISION PERDIDO community group website. Yes! The Incorporate Perdido website has "given birth" so to speak. We all agreed that the name Incorporate Perdido led many Perdidans to misunderstand our true purpose as a community group. No matter how many times we said it, our name understandably led others to think of us as pushing for incorporation instead of actively investigating the possibility.
We are, in fact, investigating the pros and cons of incorporating because it very well may be a good fit for our community.But then again it may not be a good fit at all! We won't take a stand on that issue until we have researched it enough to make an informed and intelligent recommendation. And what an enormous amount of information to sift through! It could be a full time job going through just the financial aspects of a small city - not to mention grasping all the many changes to the community this would bring.
Perdido's growth is a concern for everyone who lives here. ENVISION PERDIDO has somewhat grudgingly accepted that we are not going to be able to keep Perdido to ourselves. The word is out and lots of people desire a piece of our personal paradise. However, we can insist on certain standards for growth in our community and refuse to allow our home to become over commercialized. We can insist that our natural resources and our environment are protected. We should demand that construction is of the utmost quality so that if another storm visits this coastline, we do not experience the same level of devastation!
Fact: Our vision for the community encompasses much more than the decision to become a city. We are committed to helping Perdido reach its full potential as a community whether we incorporate or not! In order to do that, we hope to bring together the collective desires of Perdidans and paint a picture of the future of Perdido that each of us has in mind. We want and need your opinions to help give us perspective on the community's potential. We know what we want to see but of course, we aren't the only ones who live here!
This is a personal invitation to you to partner with EP in this process of visualizing a future Perdido. Let's work as a connected community to focus on Perdido's needs and create an environment for families and children as well as eagles and sea turtles.
